Scope:
Shield Tunnel Construction: Two earth pressure balance-type tunnel boring machines (TBMs) were used to construct a tunnel with an internal diameter of ∮2,809 mm and an external diameter of ∮3,209 mm, totaling 1,854 meters in length, using precast concrete segment linings. Pipe Installation: Upon completion of the shield tunnel, ductile iron pipes (D.I.P.) with a diameter of ∮2,000 mm were installed within the tunnel. Grouting was then performed to backfill the space between the ductile iron pipes and the tunnel lining segments. A full-length water pressure test was carried out afterward. Total pipe installation length: 1,855 meters.
Connecting Works: The project also involved linking to the Datong Booster Station, the ∮1,000 mm Minzu West Road urban pipeline, and the ∮2,000 mm Beitou Main Line.
Benefits:
In coordination with the Ministry of the Interior Construction and Planning Agency's Danhai New Town Development Project, as well as Taipei City’s urban development plans for the Guandu Plain and Shezi Island, pipelines were laid along the floodplain of the Keelung River. This project also supports future integration with the planned Dadu Distribution Reservoir and Booster Station, as well as the Guandu Booster Station, to meet water demand from ongoing and future development projects.
Project Cost: USD 19.9 million
Construction Period: August 2001 – January 2005
