Scope:
The Sanchong No. 2 Reservoir and Booster Station is designed as an underground reservoir composed of two separate tanks to facilitate future maintenance and management. The total capacity exceeds 24,000 tons, and the design prioritizes maximizing reservoir volume. To ensure optimal space for the operation and maintenance of the main booster station’s pump room and control room, the inlet pipeline gallery will be located in the mezzanine level of the distribution reservoir, while the pump room and outlet pipeline gallery will be placed at ground level. The remaining pump room and control room facilities will be arranged in a two-story elevated mezzanine above the pump room. The remaining space at ground level will be landscaped and designated as a multi-purpose auxiliary space.
Auxiliary Commercial Space: Approximately 1,105 m² is planned for multi-purpose commercial use. Rental revenue from this space will be used to subsidize the Water Supply Fund, thereby alleviating the financial burden of the project. It may also align with the industrial policy initiatives of the municipal government.
Parking Space: As part of the multi-purpose plan for leasing office and retail space, additional parking is required in accordance with regulations. The current plan provides for 22 car parking spaces (including 1 accessible space) and 12 motorcycle parking spaces (including 1 accessible space), subject to the final decision of the urban design review. Given the limited land area of the project site, the parking spaces will primarily be reserved for use by the booster station and auxiliary facility tenants.
Benefits:
Upon completion, the project will enhance the overall water supply stability in the Sanchong water supply zone. It will establish a backup and contingency mechanism for the Sanchong water supply district, thereby improving the stability and security of the water supply system. Through multi-purpose land use and integration with auxiliary commercial facilities, the project will also help ease the financial burden on the authority.
Project Cost: USD 41 million
Construction Period: October 2022 – November 2027
