Scope:
This project involves structural reinforcement and functional upgrades to the expansion flexible joints of four existing pipeline bridges within the Taipei Water Department’s service area: Yuanshan A Pipeline Bridge, Jiantan B Pipeline Bridge, the No.2 Water Trunks Xindian River Pipeline Bridge, and the No.1 Water Trunks Yongfu Pipeline Bridge. The enhancements include installing reinforcement sleeves, expansion tie rods, and replacing rubber gaskets, bolts, and nuts, as outlined below: Yuanshan A Pipeline Bridge (∮2000mm): Installation of 2 expansion tie rods. Jiantan B Pipeline Bridge (∮2000mm): Installation of 2 reinforcement sleeves. 2nd Clean Water Trunks Xindian River Pipeline Bridge (∮2400mm): Installation of 4 reinforcement sleeves the No.1 Water Trunks Yongfu Pipeline Bridge (∮2400mm): Installation of 14 expansion tie rods and replacement of 16 sets of rubber gaskets, bolts, and nuts.
Due to the construction work on the Yongfu Pipeline Bridge affecting the downstream section of the No.1 Water Trunks, a ∮1200mm connection from Zhitan and a reserved ∮2200mm connection to the No.1 Water Trunks have been installed to serve as a backup supply pipeline during the water suspension period.
Benefits:
The four major pipeline bridges, including the Yongfu Pipeline Bridge on the No.1 Water Trunks, the Xindian River Pipeline Bridge on the 2nd Clean Water Trunks, and the Yuanshan A and Jiantan B Pipeline Bridges on the Beitou Trunk, are all critical facilities along the transmission Trunks. Any damage to these structures could result in significant impacts on the water supply. By implementing structural improvements such as the installation of expansion and flexible piping components, the displacement tolerance is enhanced. This reduces the risk of seismic damage and helps ensure the stability and safety of the water supply.
Project Cost: USD 3.5 million
Construction Period: January 2021 – May 2023
