Scope:
The total length of the main line is approximately 17.4 kilometers, divided into 16 construction projects. The upstream sections from Zhitan to Gongguan, spanning 8.1 kilometers, was divided into 7 construction projects (Tunnel Section, Anhua Section, Ankang Interchange Section, Pipeline Bridge Section, Huanhe Expressway Section 1, Huanhe Expressway Section 2, and Shuiyuan Expressway Section) and commenced water transmission operations in December 1997. The downstream sections from Gongguan to Xinsheng Park comprised 9 projects (Ji-Xi Section, Ji-Xi Continuation Section, Ji-Dong Project, Dunnan Section, Zhongxiao-Bade Section, Civic Boulevard Section, Dunbei Project, Min-Dong Section, and Datong No.1 & No.2 Water Trunks Connector Section), spanning approximately 9.3 kilometers, and was fully commissioned on September 27, 2002.
Benefits:
1.Replaces and supports The No.1 Water Trunk, establishing a mains pipeline network across Greater Taipei, significantly enhancing both the total water supply volume and system pressure. Under normal conditions, it operates in parallel with The No.1 Water Trunk, expanding support to New Taipei supply zones and strengthening overall water supply stability and security for the Greater Taipei Area.
2.Enables The No.1 Water Trunk, which has been in continuous operation for over 15 years, to undergo full shutdown and thorough inspection, addressing long-standing leakage issues.
Project Cost: USD 249 million
Construction Period: February 1992 – July 1999
