Scope:
This project involved the construction of a new water purification facility with a treatment capacity of 700,000 CMD and a clean water reservoir with an effective capacity of 50,000 cubic meters, along with associated auxiliary facilities.
Benefits:
1.The Zhitan Water Purification Plant’s purification capacity was increased by an additional 700,000 CMD, bringing the total daily treatment capacity to 4.36 million CMD. This significantly boosts the plant’s standby capacity, enabling it to handle high-turbidity raw water during torrential rainfall and providing sufficient backup to support the water demand of Taiwan Water Corporation’s Banxin Program.
2.The project also enhances operational flexibility, allowing the Taipei Water Department to schedule maintenance for other purification plants and conduct inspections and repairs of major raw and clean water pipelines with greater ease.
Project Cost: USD 39.4 million
Construction Period: May 2009 – September 2013
