Scope:
This project adopts the method of inserting ductile iron pipes (DIP) inside a shield tunnel. The shield tunnel launching point is located on the left bank highland of the Xindian River near Xiulang Bridge, where a dual-launch working shaft is constructed. One tunnel drive proceeds southward, passing beneath the caisson foundations of Xiulang Bridge and the New Taipei Huanhe Expressway underpass, and continues under Jianshan to the working shaft at the Northern Taiwan Reserve Command General Headquarters. The other drive proceeds north along the left bank highland of the Xindian River, turning right at the Yongfu Bridge nursery area, crossing beneath the riverbed on the upstream side of Yongfu Bridge, passing under Shuiyuan Expressway, and arriving at the receiving shaft located at the Gongguan surge tank parking lot. The entire pipeline is designed and constructed with a diameter of ∮2,600mm and a total length of approximately 2,800 meters. Inside the shield tunnel, the pipeline uses Ductile Iron Pipe (DIP), Class D4U with U-type joints. The gap between the tunnel lining and the pipeline is backfilled with concrete grout. At both tunnel ends and in the nursery area, open-cut construction is used to connect with the existing mains. The pipe material used is DIP, Class D3K with K-type joints. The dual-launch working shafts are constructed as permanent shafts for future maintenance and valve operations.
Benefits:
1.This project establishes a dual-main backup system along Chenggong Road for the No. 1 Water Trunk, enhancing distribution flexibility and reducing the risk of water supply disruptions in the area.
2.It improves flexibility during sectional maintenance shutdowns of the No. 1 and No. 2 Water Trunk , extends the service life of both systems in the Greater Taipei area, and stabilizes water supply capacity and quality.
Project Cost: USD 22.9 million
Construction Period: January 2020 to September 2025
