Scope:
The entire pipeline is designed and constructed with a diameter of ∮ 1500mm and a total length of approximately 1,500 meters. The project adopts the shield tunneling method to install water pipelines within the tunnel. Within the shield tunnel section, ductile iron pipes (DIP) with Class D4U U-type joints are used. The gap between the tunnel lining and the pipeline is backfilled with concrete grout. Open-cut construction was applied at both ends of the alignment to connect the pipeline, using Ductile Iron Pipes (Class 3, K-type joints – D3K) or steel pipes.
Benefits:
1.The maximum transmission capacity reaches 300,000 CMD. This project ensures a stable water inflow to the Sanchong No. 2 Booster Station. Under normal conditions, it meets the daily demand of 200,000 CMD in the Sanchong supply zone, improves water quality in the area, and serves as a backup to the existing Sanchong water system, reducing supply risks.
2.This project also establishes a backup transmission system, allowing for maintenance of the two existing ∮1000mm water mains suspended on Zhongxiao Bridge without requiring service interruption for end users.
Project Cost: USD 10.2 million
Construction Period: November 2018 – August 2021
